I wonder how this pans out on the opposite end when we stop going to school. Is there a direct correlation between cognitive decline with aging and losing these skills?

A study on the speed of information processing in children using tasks that measure visual inspection time, visual-verbal, and visuomotor processing found that all three skills develop with age but only the latter two improved after years of schooling. htt
