@NM_Wilkinson @jamessseattle @WiringTheBrain @petemandik A self-manufacturing system (eg bacterium) *is* able to set and pursue its own intrinsic goals. The bacterium can thus do something no algorithm will ever be able to do. It may've evolved automatisms
